Music Theory 101: Part 1 of 2 - Identifying Notes and Scales
Listen to the listen to the last part on Major and Minor scale.
Method to remember numbers of # Sharp in Major scales
Just see the number of sharp of based on the shape and strokes of the letters:
C = 0# C look likes 0
D = 2# D is 2 strokes
E = 4# E is 3 strokes
F = 1b (F=Flat)
G = 1# G in type script is 1 stroke
A = 3# A is 3 strokes
B = 5# B can be broken into 5 artificial strokes
From Major to Minor scale, subtract 3:
Major Minor
C = 0 c = 0 - 3 = - 3 = 3b (BEA)
D = 2 d = 2 - 3 = - 1 = 1b (B)
E = 4 e = 4 - 3 = 1 #
F = 1b f = - 1 -3 = - 4 = 4b (BEAD)
G = 1 g = 1 - 3 = - 2 = 2b (BE)
A = 3 a = 3 - 3 = 0
B = 5 b = 5 - 3 = 2 = 2#
